Although the US has military bases all over the world, and is obsessively engaged in toppling governments; fomenting, funding, and managing wars; demonizing nations and their populations as terrorist; and sanctioning a third of the world’s nations, we seldom hear the US referred to as an empire. But that’s what it is.
Join us for a discussion about imperialism, what it is, why Americans know so little about it, and why our working-class movements cannot afford to either ignore or tolerate the imperialist orientation of the US ruling class. Imperialism is a project that takes at least half of our nation’s GDP and funnels it back into the projects of the wealthiest fraction of Americans-projects that invariably result in wars that we and our families fight and die in, as though funding them with our labor weren’t enough. We already work our whole lives to enrich our employers, but on top of that, when the wealthiest summon us to die to advance their estates, we have no choice but to answer the call.
Learn with us why the enemies of imperialism are our friends, and why we have everything to gain fighting alongside the workers of all nations against the capitalists. The billionaires grind us into profits at home, and shoot us out of cannons overseas, all to the benefit of their heirs. All of us have to see imperialism for what it is and fight it together every day of our lives.
