Chess Records in Chicago was one of the most important labels in American music.
It introduced the world to the first electric band in Muddy Waters’ ensemble. It gave us some of the greatest blues vocalists (Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Etta James, Koko Taylor, et.al), the greatest blues harmonica players (Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson), some of the greatest guitarists (Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin, Elmore James), and as if that wasn’t enough, Chess Records gave us prototype rock n roll with Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley.
Join us when Tom Townsley and his intrepid House Band featuring Morris Tarbell, Sean Peters, Jake Lozo, and Lenny Milano celebrate the legacy of this great American label with special guests Dave Liddy, George Deveny, and Jes Sheldon. It will be a one of a kind blues extravaganza!
Show is at 7:30pm – tickets are $20 at the door, seating is limited so arrive early!
