Orin Domenico writes: In preparation for our May 20th concert appearance by the Sheryl Bailey Trio, I’ve been spending time both listening to the group on cd and watching them on dvd. It’s always such a gas to have a working group coming, one with a well-earned-intuitive-alchemy. To my ear, Bailey’s unique style is more reminiscent of the old-school soft-tone-picking of the likes of Kenny Burrell and John Hall rather than the more rock-fusion stylings we’re accustomed to hearing these day (though she can no doubt play that way too).
