Platform Plebs: Sharing Power, a talk by Ashley Gorham, Assistant Professor of Government
Traditionally, online platforms, especially social media, have not been seen as political spaces. Yet as contemporary events attest, many social media platforms are distinctly political, featuring content and making policies of broad, public, and common concern. Given this reality, we should investigate how such spaces are governed and how they should be governed in the future. Drawing on Machiavellian political thought, Prof. Gorham offers a model for a more democratic form of platform governance.
