Big and Glassy Book Club

We will be discussing Tennessee William’s first full length play, the one act Candles to the Sun. Set in the Red Hills coal mining section of Alabama, the play follows the lives and struggles of the coal miners as they attempt to unionize. Received with rave reviews in 1937, the play foreshadowed the rise of one of America’s greatest playwrights and distinctive voices for social change.
