When Gratran and I moved north from downstate, we were pleased to discover the Other Side and it's super quirky customer- friendly coffee shop. We'll miss you, and wish you the best in your next phase!

When I first moved to Utica in 2011, Domenico’s was right around the corner from my apartment. It was my first safe space in a new city and I will always be grateful for it! Best wishes for your next chapter-you created some magic with this cafe.

Kim, Orin, Molly & Nick-
Cafe Domenico will be known in the Cultural Fabric history of Utica as a Beacon of Creativity. Unique passion, a heartfelt place to bring visitors, family and friends, these are the memories we carry with a dose of caffeine. Our children grew -up in a "Play-Group" that met once a week up on the second balcony & discovered many books in the Nook! They use your cafe as the rule of measure when exploring other venues in the world. Thank you for all of your support in the Artist Community and we wish you all the best on a new path. Namaste. Tina, Daniel, Owen & Sophie.

I will miss this place and the staff, especially Molly immensely. Every single morning I walk over to get the best coffee and a smile from her. The little things mean so much and this place has a very warm, embracing feel to it. Good luck to all and just know you truly will be missed in our south side community. ♥️

Orin, Kim, Molly and Nick… you created a space that was unlike any other in a city where it can feel hard to be different. You made a space where anyone walking in was part of your family. Sometimes it was a crazy family and that was the beauty. I made so many friends of every age in the space you created. I found out about new music there. It was a meet up spot for many adventures. I had some of my best days in Utica there and some of my worst. I honestly could never express in words all that this little cafe added to my life. I may be shedding tears as I write this but it’s because this was much more than a cafe. It was the first spot I stopped at when I came back to Utica because it felt like home. Thank you for sharing your family with us all these past 21 years and 8 months. I love you all.

When I first moved to Utica in 2007, I discovered Cafe Domenico to be a wonderful place to hang out, read the NY Times and meet people.
Orin and Kim and their children were always friendly, interesting people. And, in time, I also would attend various events at The Other Side.
When Covid hit, I stopped going out to public places and continue to this day to remain cautious.
Thanks for creating a wonderful community space.
I hope that when Emerson opens they will have Apple Pay as I only carry cash for emergencies. A few weeks ago I was in Switzerland for my annual trip and not once did I have to use cash. I used my watch for ApplePay for every transaction.

All the best to the Domenico Family and for creating such a fine institution.

I could write a dissertation on how important Cafe Domenico was to me growing up. Through high school, college, and eventually studying for the bar exam, Cafe Domenico and its wonderful owners/staff were there for all of it, offering a relaxing, welcoming, and familiar place to hit the pause button for a while. Every cafe I visit is involuntarily compared against Cafe Domenico in my head because Cafe Domenico was/is perfect.

Saying thank you hardly seems adequate, but nonetheless, I offer my sincere gratitude for everything. Thank you so very much, and best of luck to the Domenico family.

Thank you Orin, Kim and Molly for all the great years going to our favorite cafe.

The first time I ever sang in public was upstairs at the Cafe in 12th grade, so 2008 or 2009. It was the second verse of "I Will Follow You Into The Dark". I also played kazoo on "San Fransisco Bay Blues", a crowd favorite.

Of course I am now married to my favorite barista.

My favorite quote (for now) comes from a book I picked up one day off the bookshelf: "Painting itself is this movement towards its own reality". It basically means that all the meaning of a word can never be fully encompassed by any definition.

Cafe Domenico meant a lot to so many people in so many ways. It doesn't seem like we can touch the true essence of what the Cafe was, but hopefully we can all point to it together.

People don't forget Becca is going to reopen her own cafe soon!!!
