Our major events include the Monthly Art Gallery featuring world-class artists, our Jazz series which brings in some of the best jazz musicians in the country, our Hamilton College Lecture series, our activism-centered series dedicated to Sunithi Bajekal called The Big Conversation, the Mohawk Valley Freedom School dedicated to education and social justice, the Anti-Fascist Book club, as well as the Utica Herbal Study group, Kundalini Yoga, Spanish conversation classes, the Utica Poets Society and much more.

The Right to Know: The Politics of Government Transparency

A talk by Gbemende Johnson, Associate Professor of Government   National governments regularly balance concerns of transparency and access to information against the need for information security and confidentiality. Increased government transparency can inform the public of the reasons underlying government decisions and can promote the participation of outside parties and actors but also can uncover wrongdoing that can lead to embarrassment or legal action against government actors.
